Introduction to Gauge-String Duality

Prerequisites

The course assumes some prior (and very basic) knowledge of general relativity, quantum field theory, string theory, statistical physics, kinetic theory and mathematical physics. All necessary ingredients will be introduced in lectures and you will be asked to explore them further using the list of recommended literature and other sources (see below). Prior knowledge of Mathematica software package is helpful (but you can learn it along the way).

Topics

Duality in lattice models and field theory

Black holes thermodynamics

Elements of string theory

Constructing gauge-string duality

Elements of relativistic fluid dynamics

Holographic methods in near-equilibrium physics
