Practical Information

The workshop will be held at St John's College, Oxford (New Seminar Room, Canterbury Quad).

The Arrival

Please see section "Travel" on how to reach Oxford and locate St John's college in the city. Please report to St John's porter's lodge upon arrival to get keys from your room. If you are a local participant, go straight to the New Seminar Room in Canterburry Quad (see the map link above).

Accommodation

A set of rooms has been reserved for the participants in St John's college for the period from 9 July (arrival) to 14 July (departure). If your arrival/departure dates are different, simply let us, the organizers, know and the booking will be adjusted accordingly. You will get an e-mail asking to confirm your arrival-departure dates and other information later on. Upon arrival, please report to the college's Main Lodge on St Giles Street to get the keys from your room and breakfast tickets.

Food

Breakfast is available in the main Hall from 8:20 am to 9:00 am. It is organized in a buffet style (you order at the counter), offering the world-famous Full English Breakfast" or its components.

Lunch will be served in the Hall at 12:30 Monday-Friday. Please do warn us if you have any dietary restrictions.

Workshop's dinner is on Thursday, 13 July, at 18:45, in the main Hall. Dress code is "smart casual". More information will be provided later on.

For dinners on other days, the participants are encouraged to explore local options including pubs (the closest pubs are "The Eagle and Child" and "The Royal Oak" ). There are several restaurants on Little Clarendon Street nearby ("Carluccio's", "Pierre Victoire", "Cafe Rouge") and more on Walton Street ("Loch Fyne" - fish, "Jamal's" - Indian, "Zheng" - Chinese etc). Please ask the locals for more information.

Internet access

Eduroam is functioning on college grounds. Information about alternative arrangements (OWL accounts) has been e-mailed to all non-Oxford participants. In addition, to cover Sunday evening needs, you will be given a college guest account username & password together with your room key on arrival. If you need a guest account, please contact the organizers.

Travel Adaptors

Please be advised that British electric sockets are in many, many ways unique... If you are coming from overseas, you may need an electric adaptor, e.g. USA-UK or EU-UK (yes!), e.g. the USA-EU adaptor will be useless. They are sold at the airports and can be found in Oxford's shops (but not easily).

Reimbursement

Reimbursement forms have been e-mailed to all participants whom we promised to reimburse expenses in the invitation e-mail (if you think you have not received the form, please contact Michelle Bosher: ). Please fill the form, sign it and return *together with receipts* to: Michelle Bosher, Theory Administrators, Department of Physics, 1 Keble Road, Oxford, OX1 3NP, United Kingdom. Travel expenses (we don't need boarding passes) including bus, rail or taxis as well as accommodation (with the receipt from your online college room booking) can be reimbursed. The charge for the workshop dinner on 13/07 cannot be reimbursed. You can also submit receipts for food (dinners etc): the receipts and the entry lines in the reimbursement form should be in one-to-one correspondence. If in doubt, please contact the organizers. You can mail the reimbursement form & receipts to Michelle after you return from the workshop but please do it promptly (all payments must be made before 30 September 2017).
