Referring to exercise 9.4, I'm unsure of how we solve the equations of motion for a "complex wavenumber" in the monatomic chain.
So: frequency is greater than sqrt(k/m), so apply this inequality to omega=2*sqrt(kappa/m)|sin(ka/2|? and then invert it to find the decay length?
Probably just having a brain freeze :/
