In part (a) on the 'More Atomic Physics' question we have solid Erbium, which ordinarily has 12 electrons in its 4f shell, with one electron from each atom forming a delocalised band and so effectively having 11 electrons on the Er atoms.
But then in part (b) we have an analogous situation for solid Europium, which ordinarily has 7 f electrons in its outer shell, but the question now says that, even though one electron on each atom forms a delocalised band like before, there are 7 f electrons on each atom.
Could I be missing something, or is this a mistake?
