Thanks for the quick reply! That makes sense. However, in the high T compared to freeze out limit, we have to make the assumption that
(E_c - mu) >> k_B*T
(mu - E_v) >> k_B*T
still hold. Only then can we use the result that the chemical potential lies approximately in the middle of the band gap (between valence and conduction bands) (equation 17.11 from your book).
Were you trying to explain something with the last uncompleted line?
