Density of states, 1-dimensional diatomic lattce

Dear Prof Simons,

In the density of states g(w)=g(k) dk/dw is a factor of dk/dw. Does this mean that there are 2 densities of states for each branch in a 1-dimensional diatomic lattice since there are different dispersion relations for each branch?
