The question says to use the result of part a (I assume the expression just derived for the total energy) to calculate the energy in terms of alpha. I may be missing something obvious here, but from the equations given for density of spin up/down, n can be substituted for in the original energy expression, but now it is in terms of alpha and n up or down and I'm not sure really how to proceed. Help much appreciated, thanks!!
