There is a large number of textbooks on Quantum Field Theory, and all cover the basic material at different levels of intelligibility, and much more than can be covered in this course. The general level and approach is best captured by

• Quantum Field Theory by M Srednicki (Cambridge University Press, 2007) 35 GBP (an excellent up-to-date introduction with a particle physics bias).
• Quantum Field Theory in a Nutshell by A Zee (Princeton University Press, 2003) 38.50 GBP (an excellent introduction with both the particle and condensed matter in mind).

For those looking for more advanced inspirational reading I would recommend in particle physics:
