A project co-ordinated by Professor Subir Sarkar in the Department
of Physics has been awarded Euro 3.53 m in the Sixth Framework
Programme of the European Union.'UniverseNet',consisting of 23
universities and 16 research institutes in 11 countries, will address
fundamental questions such as "why are we made out of matter rather
than antimatter?"; "what is the dark matter and the even more
mysterious dark energy which dominate the universe?"; and "why are
there just four space-time dimensions?" ...

A physics show performed by students for kids: From mechanics to elementary particle physics

As described in these articles, a fascinating set of physics
demonstrations for children have been put together under Prof
Dreiner's guidance by 2nd year undergraduates at Bonn
University. These have proved to be a huge success with the
public. Every year a new two-hour show is presented, with six
