2006 Q2 (and 1996 Q2)

Hi,

I was wondering whether you could clarify something for me in Q2 of the 2006 paper (also very similar Q: Q2 on 1996 paper)

The question first describes a 1D monatomic chain, then asks you to derive the low T Debye heat capacity for a 3d solid and then asks you to use the Debye model to show that at low T the average phonon energy is a linear function of T.

Am I correct in thinking that the final part of this question is again referring to the 1D chain (as the 3d debye model gives ~ T^4 at low T)? I've been slightly thrown by the integrals provided in the 1996 paper that seem to suggest a 3d calculation.

Also, in the 2006 paper, is it ok to leave answers in terms of integrals?
