Well, actually there should be two different values of Vcross, but it shouldn't make the algebra too bad --- you can just absorb Vcross in to the values of Epsilon_{0,1} and Epsilon_{0,2}.
As for the extensions and what is examinable, it really depends on the examiner and how nasty they want to be. My guess is that 4.5 would be OK, but 2.7 would be a bit strange to put on an exam.
