Okay, I shall think on the answer to the first question.
Ah, whilst the answer to the second question may be correct, it doesn't enlighten me. For sure I can, and have solved for n and p. However, I am at a loss as to what I should take to be my charge carriers.
If there are no dopants, then it is just n, or p. However, when n-p = D, n doesn't equal p. Is the no. of charge carriers (n + p )/2, or some other combination (like sqrt[np])? As I say, I just don't know what the no. of charge carriers is, even though I can calculate all the quantities. I would like it to just be the no. of electrons in the conduction band, but as my first question illustrates, holes are important too.
