This question reproduced from an email from a tutor: After having a long think about it I am really unsure how, in question 4.4(c) of the problem sheets, the students are meant to properly plot the density of states. I can only think of methods that would require numerical calculation, but it looks very much like what you have put in the solutions comes from an analytic expression. Moreover: there is so little explanation in the solution that I feel there must be something obvious I am missing. could you perhaps point me in the right direction? |
