I am a first year DPhil student, studying lattice field theory.
Lattice field theory allows physicists to investigate properties of quantum field theories that are not accessible by perturbative expansions (think, Feynman diagrams). We can approach these problems by restricting spacetime to a finite volume, creating a discretised spacetime lattice and then obtaining physical values from examining the continuum limit. |
