I am an astrophysicist in the Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics.
Research
My research focuses on understanding the structure, dynamics and evolution of galaxies. I have a long-standing interest in weighing supermassive black holes and modelling their effects on their host galaxies. More recently my emphasis has shifted towards understanding our own galaxy, the Milky Way.
Lecture courses
- mathematical methods (MT2011 second-year course)
- classical mechanics (short option S7, HT2012)
